abstract |
A process for producing naphthalene sulphonic acid/aldehyde condensation products comprises first treating the molten or dissolved acid with a current of steam or gas or with an oxidizing agent until it is free from sulphorous acid, and then reacting it with aldehyde and optionally with compounds which introduce aliphatic or cycloaliphatic radicals into the naphthalene nucleus.
