titleOfInvention | A process for the production of borazoles organically substituted on the nitrogen atom |
abstract | N,N1,N11-triorgano-substituted borazoles of the general formula: <FORM:0974407/C1/1> (in which R is an alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, or aryl radical, which aryl radical may be substituted by chlorine or bromine atoms or by alkyl or cycloalkyl radicals) are made by reacting a borazone of the formula <FORM:0974407/C1/2> (in which R1, R11 and R111 are alkyl, cycloalkyl aryl and alkaryl radicals, or R1, R11, R111 together with the nitrogen atom can be pyridine), with a monoorgano-ammonium halide of the general formula [R-NH3]X (where R is as defined above and X is chlorine or bromine), preferably in a mol ratio of 1:1, at a temperature above 0 DEG C. but below the decomposition temperature of the tri-organo-substituted borazoles, preferably between 70 and 150 DEG C., 2 mols of hydrogen being split off per mol. of amine introduced. Suitable borazones and amine halides are specified. Hydrocarbon solvents may be used or the reaction can be effected in a predominantly solid phase with vigorous agitation, as in a heatable ball mill. Examples describe the preparation of (1) N-trimethyl -b - trihydrogen borazole; (2) N-triethyl -b - trihydrogen borazole; (3) N-tris-(2-chloroethyl) -b - trihydrogen borazole with some tetrameric and higher polymeric borazoles; (4) N-tris-(2-bromoethyl) -b - trihydrogen borazole and highly polymeric borazoles; (5) N-triphenyl -b - trihydrogen borazole; (6) N-tris-(3-chlorophenyl) -b - trihydrogen borazole; (7) N-tris (2-methyl -4- cyclohexylphenyl) -b - trihydrogen borazole and (8) a highly viscous polymeric N-allyl -b - hydrogen borazole, the allyl groups of which were partially hydroborated. |
