titleOfInvention Benzodiazepine derivatives and a process for the manufacture of same
abstract The invention comprises benzodiazepine derivatives of the general formula <FORM:0972969/C1/1> (in which the broken line denotes that the alkyl substituent is optional) and acid-addition salts thereof, and a process for their preparation comprising reacting a halide of the general formula <FORM:0972969/C1/2> with ammonia or a primary alkylamine and, if desired, converting the benzodiazepine compound produced into an acid-addition salt. The benzodiazepine derivatives and their acid-addition salts (e.g. with inorganic acids) are sedatives, tranquilizers, muscle relaxants and anticonvulsants. They may be administered orally or parenterally (e.g. in the form of elixirs, suspensions, capsules, powders, tablets or injectables). Specification 972,970 is referred to.
