titleOfInvention | Pesticidal dithiocarbamates and their use |
abstract | The invention comprises dithiocarbamates of formula R-S-C(=S)NHR1 wherein R is a carbocyclic aryl group, R1 is an acyclic or alicyclic aliphatic hydrocarbon group, R and R1 being optionally substituted. The compounds are prepared by reacting an isothiocyanate R1NCS with a mercaptan RSH. In examples, where R1 is methyl, R is phenyl, o- or p-chlorophenyl, 2, 4, 5-trichlorophenyl, pentachlorophenyl, o- or p-tolyl, xylyl, p-t-butylphenyl or naphthyl; the compound wherein R1 is 2-cyanoallyl and R is phenyl is also specified. Other compounds within the general formula are also listed.ALSO:Coccidiostatic animal feeds comprise an inert edible carrier and at least one dithiocarbamate of formula R-S-C(=S)NHR1, wherein R is a carbocyclic aryl group, R1 is an acyclic or alicyclic aliphatic hydrocarbon group, R and R1 being optionally substituted. Other coccidiostats such as sulphaquinoxaline, 4,41-dinitrocarbanilide/2-hydroxy-4,6-dimethylpyrimidine complex, 3,31-dinitrodiphenyldisulphide, arsonilic acid, 3-amino-4-hydroxyphenylarsonic acid or 5-nitrofurfural semicarbazone may be present, vitamins, growth promoting agents and antibiotics are also mentioned and a feed supplement containing many such additives is specified. The active compound (and optionally a surface-active ingredient) may be added to the drinking water of animals. Antimicrobial compositions comprising said dithiocarbamates and a solid or liquid carrier and/or a surface-active agent are described. |
