titleOfInvention Phosphorus-containing heterocyclic esters
abstract The invention comprises phosphorus compounds of the general formula: <FORM:0965997/C1/1> wherein R1 and R2 which may be the same or different are unsubstituted or substituted alkyl or alkoxy radicals containing up to 4 carbon atoms or alkylamine, dialkylamine or aryl radicals, X is an O or S atom and Y and Y1 which may be the same or different are hydrogen, chlorine, bromine or iodine atoms or nitro, alkyl, alkoxy or alkylmercapto radicals or may, together with the benzene ring depicted, represent a fused benzene nucleus. They may be obtained by reacting a hydroxy benzisoxazole derivative of the formula: <FORM:0965997/C1/2> with a phosphorus acid chloride of the formula Cl.P(:X)(R1)(R2). The reaction may suitably be effected at 40-70 DEG C. and is preferably carried out in the presence of an acid binding agent and in an inert solvent, e.g. a ketone, aromatic hydrocarbon, acetonitrile, dimethyl formamide or N-methyl pyrrolidone. Several examples are given and the products have insecticidal properties (see Division A5). Specification 961,917 is referred to.ALSO:An insecticidal composition comprises a solid or liquid diluent or carrier and a phosphorus containing derivative of a hydroxy benzisoxazole of the general formula <FORM:0965997/A5-A6/1> wherein R1 and R2 which may be the same or different, are unsubstituted or substituted C1-C4 alkyl or alkoxy radicals or alkylamino, dialkylamino or aryl radicals, X is an oxygen or sulphur atom, and Y and Y1, which may be the same or different, are hydrogen, chlorine, bromine or iodine atoms or nitro, alkyl, alkoxy, or alkylmercapto radicals or may, together with the benzene ring depicted, represent a fused benzene nucleus (see Division C2). Specified carriers or diluents are talc, chalk, bentonite, clay, water (if necessary with an emulsifier), alcohols, ketones, liquid hydrocarbons and dimethylformamide. Known insecticides and/or fertilizers may also be present. Specification 961,917 is referred to.
