titleOfInvention A process for the production of silver halide emulsions
abstract Water-soluble sulphonated poly-1,4-phenylene oxides are obtained by sulphonating polyphenylene oxides of molecular weight 1,000 to 30,000 with the addition compound of sulphur trioxide and 2,2-dichloro-diethyl ether in ethylene chloride. Examples are given of the sulphonation of poly-1,4-phenylene oxide itself and of poly-2, 6-dimethyl or diethyl-1, 4-phenylene oxide. Reference also is made to the use of other sulphonating agents such as chloro sulphonic acid.
