titleOfInvention Process for affixing an object to a drawn article of linear polyester
abstract Drawn articles of linear polyesters are rendered susceptible to adhesion to other objects, other than water-permeable colloids, by ozonizing the article and graft polymerizing thereon one or more polar vinylidenic monomers, e.g. acrylic, maleic citraconic and itaconic acids and anhydrides, methacrylic, crotonic, sorbic, cinnamic, chlororocinnamic, atropic, fumaric, oleic, linoleic, hydromuconic, glutaconic, aconitic, styrylacrylic, vinylacrylic and eleostearic acids, acrylamide, vinyl succinimide, vinyl acetanilide, vinyl pyrrolidone, vinyl caprolactam, acrylyl, methacrylyl, cinnamyl, crotonyl and fumaryl chlorides, glycidyl acrylate, methacrylate and allyl ether, acrylonitrile, vinylidene cyanide and beta-cyanoethyl acrylate. The monomer may be used either in liquid or vapour form. The polyester article may be in the form of a film, filament or fabric. Specifications 791,453, 883,791, 883,792, 883,793, 898,709 and 898,710 are referred to.ALSO:The examples describe the preparation of coated fabrics of polyethylene terephthalate by the following means: (3) glycidyl methacrylate is grafted on the fabric, and a paste of polyvinyl chloride in tricresyl phosphate is gelled directly thereon by heating at 150 DEG C.; and (4) a polyurethane is cast on a fabric to which acrylic acid has been grafted. Specifications 791,453, 883,791, 883,792, 883,793, 898,709 and 898,710 are referred to.
