titleOfInvention Process for the production of fungicidal wrappings for perishable goods
abstract Fungicidal wrapping materials are made by applying to a base sheet material a mixture of a fungicide and a binder by means of a spot-set coating roller. Specified bases are paper and parchment sheets and regenerated cellulose, synthetic resin and metal foils. Specified fungicides are sorbic acid, benzoic acid, dehydroacetic acid and their salts and parahydroxybenzoic acid esters. Suitable binding agents are dispersions of polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl propionate, polyvinylidene chloride, polyacrylates, polymethacrylates and styrenebutadiene latex. The coatings may also comprise thickening agents, e.g. polyvinyl alcohol, methyl- or hydroxyethyl-cellulose; wetting agents and/or pigments. The amount of coating applied may be regulated and the homogeneity of the coating assured by varying the rate of advance of the wrapping material in comparison with the paster roller.
