abstract | Water soluble steroid esters are obtained in a process which comprises reacting a steroid containing at least one hydroxyl group in the molecule with a vinyl pyrrolidone co-polymer containing at least one carboxyl group or reactive group derived therefrom, in the polymer chain. As steroids there may be employed prednisolone, cortisone hydrocortisone, 9a -fluoro -16a -methylprednisolone, testosterone, 19-nortestosterone, triamcinolone, estradiol or 17a , 19, 21-trihydroxy-pregn -4- ene-3, 20-dione. |
