titleOfInvention Process for the production of albada finders
abstract 958,030. Moulding optical elements. VOIGTLANDER A.G. June 13, 1960 [June 13, 1959], No. 20761/60. Heading B5A. [Also in Division G2] In a process for making a block form Albaba finder such as is shown in Fig. 2, a lens element 10 on the central block 6 is moulded in situ in a transparent synthetic resin cement. The moulding is preferably effected using the same cement and at the same time as the parts 1 and 6 are cemented together. A protective coating 3 of cement is also formed over an inclined mirror surface 2 of the front member 1. The cement preferably comprises an ethoxylene or epoxide resin. A tool for moulding the cement is shown at 13 and preferably comprises a thermoplastic material to which the cement does not adhere (3 examples are given) or a metal provided with a separating agent (e.g. silicone oil). The tool 13 is provided with a lug 131 for accurate positioning of the moulding surfaces 17 and 18 and also with a handle 133. A modified moulding tool illustrated in Fig. 3 (not shown), is provided with a separate clamp and holding member for accurately locating the parts 1 and 6 and the moulding tool in position for cementing. A more elaborate arrangement, shown in Fig. 4, comprises a clamping housing 24 (which may be in parts) and a carrying piece 25, which together completely enclose the finder parts and hold these in position for cementing, the rear finder member 7 being cemented at the same time in this case. Pins 23 are provided for holding the moulding tool 213 and the carrying piece 25 in position whilst cementing. Specification 958,029 is referred to.
