titleOfInvention Improvements in and relating to salt blocks
abstract Salt blocks are produced by pressing salt mixed with a small amount of calcium oxide and finely ground aluminium sulphate octadecahydrate. Calcium sulphate dihydrate is formed during pressing and helps to strengthen the block against weathering and mechanical stresses. Pressing is at about 300 kg/cm.2. Preferably 1-5% by weight of calcium sulphate dihydrate is formed by using 0.4-1.2% calcium oxide and 1.63-4.9% aluminium sulphate octadecahydrate. The salt blocks may be used as animal food.
