titleOfInvention Improvements in or relating to stabilization of polyolefins
abstract A stereoregular polymer of an a -olefin contains as light stabilizer a nickel phenolate of a bis (p-alkylphenol)-sulphoxide or -sulphone and a phenolic antioxidant, e.g. an alkyl phenol a bis (phenol), an aralkyl phenol, a bis (alkylphenol) sulphide or a polyalkylchroman. Specified polymers are those derived from propylene, butene, pentene, 3-methylbutene and 4-methyl-pentene. Of the light stabilizers listed those used in examples are the full Ni phenolate of o,o-bis (p-tetramethyl-butyl phenol) sulphoxide and the Ni phenol-phenolate of o,o-bis (p-amyl-phenol) sulphoxide. The compositions find application as fibres of improved dyeability, particularly with disperse or azoic dyes. Specification 858,889 is referred to.
