abstract Omega-aminodecanoic acid is prepared by hydrogenating the sodium salt of omega-cyanopelargonic acid in solution in a solvent such as methanol or ethanol at elevated temperatures and pressures in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst, followed by neutralization of the sodium salt of omega-aminodecanoic acid with a strong acid to form the free amino acid.
