titleOfInvention | Improvements relating to implosion barriers for cathode ray tubes |
abstract | 950,350. Cathode-ray tubes. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Dec. 8, 1961, No. 44003/61. Drawings to Specification. Heading H1D. [Also in Division B5] An implosion barrier applied to the face of a cathode-ray tube comprises plasticized polyvinyl butyral. A preferred composition is 100 parts of polyvinyl butyral with 41 parts of triethylene glycol di-2-ethyl butyrate as plasticizer. The polyvinyl butyral layer may be laminated with a protective thermoplastic layer, e.g. of cellulose acetate butyral. The implosion barrier may have an etched outer surface to reduce light reflection and may be tinted and may have tabs for attachment to a support bracket. In addition securing tape may be wrapped around the sides of the implosion barrier. |
