titleOfInvention Complex manganese salts of ethylenebisdithiocarbamic acid and fungicidal compositions containing same
abstract The invention comprises any complex compound of manganese ethylene-bis-dithiocarbamate with ammonium and/or an amine. Specified amines are methylamine, ethylamine, dimethylamine, diethylamine, methylethylamine, ethylenediamine and pyrrolidine. The complexes may be prepared by reacting a water-soluble salt of ethylene-bis-dithiocarbamic acid with a water-soluble manganese salt in the presence of the complex-forming compound. Mixtures of the complexes with thiuram disulphides may be obtained by carrying out the above reaction so as to react only part of the ethylene-bis-dithiocarbamic acid, and oxidising the remainder to the thiuram disulphide, e.g. with hydrogen peroxide or alkali nitrite and acid; or the two steps may be reversed. The complexes of the invention are fungicides (see Division A5). Specification 840,211 is referred to.ALSO:Fungicidal agents contain as active ingredient a complex of manganese ethylene-bis-dithiocarbamate with ammonia and/or an amine; specified amines are methylamine, ethylamine, dimethylamine, diethylamine, methylethylamine, ethylenediamine and pyrrolidine (see Division C2). The complexes may be compounded with one or more thiuram disulphides such as tetramethylthiuram disulphide, dipyrrolidylthiuram disulphide, and the thiuram disulphide of ethylene-bis-dithiocarbamic acid; or with other difficultly water-soluble salts of dithiocarbamic acids, such as the Zn, Mn, Fe, Ni and Cu salts of dimethyldithiocarbamic acid, tetraethyldithiocarbamic acid and ethylene-bis-dithiocarbamic acid. The compositions may be applied as dusts, dispersions or wettable powders containing conventional auxiliaries. An example uses aqueous dispersions of a mixture of active ingredient with sodium lignin sulphonate. Specification 840,211 is referred to.
