| abstract | In poultry feed there is incorporated a minor amount, 5-50g./ton, of beta-nitropropionic acid or an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt thereof, for improving feed utilization and rate of growth. The salt may be obtained by adding an aqueous solution of sodium, potassium or calcium nitrite to beta-propiolactone and evaporating to dryness. The feed may contain also a minor amount of procaine penicillin, zinc-bacitracin or chlorotetracycline. |
