| abstract | The invention comprises compounds of the general formula: <FORM:0948489/C2/1> in which R represents a hydrocarbon or halogenated hydrocarbon radical and X represents one of the radicals -OR, -SR, -S.CH2.COOR, -S.CH2.SR and -NR2, wherein R is as defined above. The compounds are prepared by reacting a sulphenyl halide of the formula RSY, wherein R is as defined above and Y is a halogen atom, with a compound of the formula: <FORM:0948489/C2/2> wherein X is as defined above and R0 is a hydrocarbyl group. The reaction may be carried out in an inert solvent. Examples are given. The compounds may be used as nematocides or fungicides (see Division A5).ALSO:Nematocidal and/or fungicidal composition comprise a carrier and/or a surface-active agent and a compound of the formula <FORM:0948489/A5-A6/1> in which R represents a hydrocarbon or halogenated hydrocarbon radical and X represents one of the radicals -OR, -SR, -S.CH2.COOR, -S.CH2.SR and -NR2, R being as defined above (see Division C2). The carrier is preferably water, an organic solvent or an absorbent inert solid. The compositions may also contain liquid fertilisers, plant hormones, stickers, plant nutritives or other fungicidal, vivicidal, insecticidal or acaricidal materials. Specified forms are emulsions, aqueous dispersions, solutions, dusts, pellets, granules or aerosols. |
