titleOfInvention | New amine and process for preparing same |
abstract | The invention comprises 9-diethylaminomethyl -9, 10-dihydro -9, 10-ethano-(1, 2)-anthracene and its acid addition salts, and their preparation by reducing 9, 10-dihydro-9, 10-ethano-(1, 2)-anthracene -9-carboxylic acid diethylamide with lithium aluminium hydride followed by conversion of any resulting free base into an acid addition salt or of acid addition salt into free base, as required. 9, 10-Dihydro -9, 10-ethano-(1, 2)-anthracene-9-carboxylic acid diethylamide is made by treating the free acid with thionyl chloride and reacting the resulting acid chloride with diethylamine. Pharmaceutical preparations for use as tranquilizers comprise the above compounds of the invention, i.e. the free base or the salts with organic or inorganic acids, including therapeutically useful substances such as salicylic, aminosalicylic or ascorbic acid, tryptophan, lysine or arginine, in admixture or conjunction with a solid or liquid carrier suitable for enteral (e.g. oral) or parenteral administration. The preparations may take the form of tablets, dragees, capsules, suspensions or emulsions and may contain preserving, stabilizing, wetting or emulsifying agents, salts for regulating osmotic pressure or buffers. |
