titleOfInvention Improvements relating to oxidation catalysts
abstract In a process for the vapour phase oxidation of organic compounds to dicarboxylic acid anhydrides there is used a V2O5; Ag3PO4 catalyst. Examples describe the oxidation of benzene and naphthalene (or o-xylene) to maleic anhydride and phthalic anhydride respectively. The catalyst may also contain molybdenum trioxide.ALSO:A V2O5 catalyst is modified by the incorporation of at least 2% Ag3Po4. Additionally the catalyst may contain MoO3. The catalyst may be supported on SiC or Al2O3. Auxiliary promoters specified are AgNo3 and the oxides of Ce, Co, Sn and Cl. Examples are given.
