titleOfInvention Developer for electrostatic latent images
abstract 944,396. Electrophotography. KALLE A. G. July 14,1961 [July 27, 1960], No. 25620/61. Heading G2H. An electrostatic image developer consists of a mixture of toner powders of approximately the same size which become charged as a result of admixture to potentials not exceeding 10 volts, the mixture including at least one organic resinous toner which acquires a positive charge and at least one inorganic toner which acquires a negative charge. The positive toner may comprise colophony, copal, asphalt, dammar resin, a colophony-modified phenol resin, coumarone resin, ketone or maleic resins, polyacrylic acid resin or polystyrene, or mixtures thereof containing pigments or dyes and up to 10% of natural or synthetic waxes and/or low melting point organic compounds such as α-naphthol, #-naphthol, acenaphthene, acetanilide,#-dibromobenzene, 2:4- diamino-toluene,o-phenylene diamine, resorcinol, or diphenylamine to provide a satisfactory melting point and adherence of the toner mixture. The negative toner may be a finely powdered simple or complex inorganic salt including silicates such as kieselguhr, silica gel, powdered talcum, glass powder or powdered oxide. The particle size of the toner is preferably from 0.1 to 50 Á and the positive and negative toners may be mixed in ratios from 1 : 1 to 20 : 1. The developed and fixed electrophotographic plates may be used for litho printing. Specification 944,394 is referred to.
