abstract | The invention comprises insecticidal and fungicidal compounds of the formula: <FORM:0943567/C2/1> where R is a =CO or =C3 groups or two -COOR111 groups, R111 being a C1-5 alkyl group, and R1 and R11 are hydrogen atoms or C1-5 alkyl groups. They are prepared by reacting o-dimercapto compounds of the formula: <FORM:0943567/C2/2> with phosgene, thiophosgene or a haloaliphatic acid alkyl ester, in the presence of an acid-binding agent or using the dimercapto compound in the form of a salt. The examples describe the preparation of compounds of the above formula where (1) R is =CS and R1 and R11 are both H, by reacting thiophosgene with 2, 3-dimercaptopyrazine; (2) R is =CO and R1 and R11 are both H; (3) R is =CO and R1 and R11 are both CH3; (4) R is =CS and R1 and R11 are both CH3; and (5) the compound: <FORM:0943567/C2/3> from the sodium salt of 2, 3-dimethyl-5, 6-dimercapto-pyrazine and chloroformic acid methyl ester. Specification 885,289 is referred to.ALSO:Insecticidal, acaricidal and fungicidal compositions comprise a compound of the formula <FORM:0943567/A5-A6/1> where R is a =CO or =CS group or two -COOR111 groups, R111 being an alkyl group, and R1 and R11 are hydrogen atoms or alkyl groups, in a solid or liquid diluent. In examples, aqueous emulsions are prepared of (1) <FORM:0943567/A5-A6/2> and of (2) <FORM:0943567/A5-A6/3> using (o-benzyl-diphenyl) polyglycol monoether as emulsifier, and tested against spider mites on bean plants.
