titleOfInvention Liquid detergent compositions
abstract An aqueous bleaching and detergent composition in the form of a stable suspension comprises (a) at least one anionic detergent of formula RO(CnH2nO)mSO3M wherein R is a C6-18-alkyl group or a C6-18-alkyl aryl group, M is alkali metal, ammonium or substituted ammonium, n is 2 or 3 and m is 1-8, preferably 2-4, (b) an alkali metal condensed phosphate, e.g. sodium pyro- or tripoly-phosphate, and (c) a per-salt which yields hydrogen peroxide in aqueous solution e.g. sodium perborate or percarbonate. In general, (a) is such that R is C6-12-alkyl when m is 2 or 3, C12-18-alkyl when m is 3 or 4, or C8-16-alkyl aryl when m is 2-4. The composition suitably also contains further anionic detergents (d), e.g. salts of acylated hydroxy- or amino-sulphonic acids, but preferably sodium C8-18-alkyl sulphate or polypropylenebenzene sulphonate, such that the weight ratio (a) : (d) is 1 : 1-1 : 6, preferably 1 : 2-1 : 4 and the total (a)+(d) is 5-25%, preferably 6-20%, by weight of the composition, (b) generally comprises 5-30%, preferably 9-25%, while (c) constitutes 2-20%. A per-salt stabilizer, e.g. sodium p-hydroxybenzoate, nitrilotriacetate, or ethylenediaminetetracetate is preferably present, and a soil-suspending agent, e.g. sodium carboxymethylcellulose in amounts of 0.3-3% is generally also included. Fatty mono- and di-ethanolamides, sulphuric acid (to adjust pH to 7-9), optical brighteners, salts, perfume and colour may also be incorporated. Specification 855,679 is referred to.
