titleOfInvention Aqueous polymer fluoride compositors
abstract A stable aqueous polymer dispersion, paint or paint base comprises a thermoplastic water-dispersible or soluble polymer and zinc fluoride or silicofluoride. Specified polymers are polyvinyl acetate, vinyl acetate/dibutyl maleate copolymer, butadiene/styrene copolymer, ethylhexyl acrylate/methyl methacrylate copolymer, ethyl acrylate-vegetable oil modified phthalic anhydride/glycerine copolymer, and linseed oil modified phthalic anhydride/glycerine alkyd. In examples the paints illustrated comprise dibutyl phthalate, hexylene and ethylene glycols, methyl cellulose, the sodium salt of carboxylated polyelectrolyte, a copolymer of ethylene oxide with a propylene oxide/propylene glycol condensation product, titanium dioxide, clay, mica and chromic oxide. The compositions find application for coating cement and plaster surfaces. Specifications 615,723, 657,545, 753,173 and 874,762 are referred to.ALSO:Masonry surfaces (concrete, lime, mortar, stucco or asbestos cement shingles) or plaster-of-paris surfaces are coated with an aqueous polymer dispersion or paint comprising a thermoplastic water-dispersible or soluble polymer and zinc fluoride or silicofluoride. Specified polymers are polyvinyl acetate, vinyl acetate/dibutyl maleate copolymer, butadiene/styrene copolymer, ethylhexyl acrylate/methyl methacrylate copolymer, ethyl acrylate-vegetable oil modified phthalic anhydride/glycerine copolymer, and linseed oil modified phthalic anhydride/glycerine alkyd. In examples the paints illustrated comprise ingredients selected from dibutyl phthalate, hexylene and ethylene glycols, methyl cellulose, the sodium salt of carboxylated polyelectrolyte, a copolymer of ethylene oxide with a propylene oxide/propylene glycol condensation product, titanium dioxide, clay, mica, and chromic oxide. Specifications 615,723, 657,545, 753,173 and 874,762 are referred to.
