titleOfInvention Process for the manufacture of halogenated hydroxy-aminoanthraquinones
abstract Chlorinated or brominated a : a -dihydroxy-a : a -diaminoanthraquinones are made by treating with chlorine or bromine (a) an a : a -dihydroxy - a : a - diaminoanthraquinone containing a sulphonic acid group in b -position and then splitting-off the sulphonic acid group by heating the product with a reducing agent in aqueous alkali-metal hydroxide solution, or (b) an a : a -dihydroxy-a : a -diaminoanthraquinone in which at least one amino group has the formula <FORM:0943163/C3/1> where n is 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 and then converting the group (1) to a primary amino group by heating the product with an aqueous mineral acid. Examples are given. The dyes dye polyester fibres in blue shades. Specification 787,379 is referred to.
