titleOfInvention Supported metallic catalysts
abstract In a process for the production of metallic catalysts from silicates and alumino-silicates possessing ion exchange properties, the latter are treated with a gas containing the vapours of one or more volatile compounds of a metal having an atomic weight above 47, the resulting product being washed and subsequently reduced. The silicate used may be a Na2 Si2 O5, Ba Si2 O5, Ca2 SiO4, Na2 SiO3 or a synthetic zeolite molecular sieve. Volatile compounds of metals having an atomic weight above 47 mentioned are ferric chloride, bismuth chloride, cupric chloride, titanium tetrachloride, tin tetrachloride, selenium chloride, chromyl chloride, zirconium iodide, thorium iodide and uranium iodide. Reduction may be effected conventionally e.g. by use of formaldehyde, hydrogen, hydrazinc or hydroxylamine. Examples are given.
