abstract | The Specification comprises hexaethylidene cyclohexane which is prepared by treating hexa-a -halogenoethylbenzene with dehalogenating and reducing agents, e.g. alkali or alkaline earth metals in the presence of alcohols or a tertiary nitrogenous base in the presence of a reducing agent such as hydrazine. Specified reagents are magnesium in methanol, sodium in isopropanol, calcium in methanol and hydrazine hydroxide in ethanol. The halogen compound may be hexa-a -chloro or hexa-a -bromo ethyl benzene. |
