titleOfInvention | Dispenser containing a pharmaceutical preparation for the relief of pain |
abstract | A dispenser having packed therein under pressure a p pharmaceutical preparation for the relief of pain consisting of a mixture of two or more non-toxic, non-inflammable chlorofluorohydrocarbons which are sufficiently volatile to effect cooling of an area of skin when directed thereon in the form of a liquid jet without readily causing localized freezing of said area of skin, said dispenser comprising a container for the preparation and an outlet mechanism which when operated allows intermittent release of the preparation from the dispenser in the form of a liquid jet and which does not permit leakage or evaporation of the preparation from the dispenser when the latter is not in use. The mixture consists of 10 to 20, and preferably 15% of dichloro-difluoromethane and 80 to 90, and preferably 85% of trichloromonofluoromethane. Pain is relieved by applying a jet of the liquid to the skin over the affected area. |
