titleOfInvention Substituted alkylenediamines
abstract Compounds of the general formula:- <FORM:0934649/IV(a)/1> in which Y is a straight or branched chain alkylene radical having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, are prepared by refluxing one mole of an N,N1-bis(3-bromopropanoyl) alkylenediamine of formula <FORM:0934649/IV(a)/2> with at least two moles of silver methanesulphonate in acetonitrile, and recovering the product. The N,N1-bis(3-bromopropanoyl) alkylenediamines may be obtained by stirring two moles of 3-bromopropanoyl chloride with an aqueous solution of one mole of the alkylene diamine in the presence of at least two moles of a hydrohalide acceptor, e.g. sodium bicarbonate. The N,N1-bis(3-methanesulphonyloxypropanoyl) alkylene diamines are useful as anthelmintics and may be used as a vermifuge in veterinary medicine. They may be used in liquid or solid carriers, e.g. water, alcohol, talc, and administered by injection or gavage. Specification 726,933 is referred to.
