A polymerized mass constituted by an aggregation of micro beads resistant to stresses, the aggregated micro beads being visible in an electron photomicrograph and defining a network of microscopic channels extending throughout the mass, is composed of a cross-linked copolymer of (1) a polyunsaturated monomer containing a plurality of CH2=C> groups in non-conjugated relationship and (2) a monoethylenically unsaturated monomer. The mass can be prepared by the method of Specification 932,126. Lists of suitable components are given and include heterocyclic nitrogen compounds. The products may be ion exchange resins, and methods of their preparation are given.
