titleOfInvention Dichlorofluoromethylthio group-containing compounds
abstract The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:0927834/IV(a)/1> where X is an organic acyl (-CO- or -SO2-) radical, Y is a carboxylic acyl radical or an alkyl, aryl, furfurylidene-imino, benzylidene-imino or substituted benzylidene-imino radical (X and Y being attached to the N by the -CO- or -SO2- group when they are acyl), or X and Y form a ring containing two -CO- and/or -SO2-groups attached to the N, or a 1,4-dioxotetrahydrophthalazine ring; and their production by reacting CFCl2SCl with an appropriate amide or imide or metal salt thereof, or by reacting the corresponding -SCCl3 compound with HF containing not more than about 2% by weight water. In examples, X and Y respectively are (CH3)2NSO2, phenyl (\sB F, Cl, CH3); CH3SO2, phenyl (\sB Cl); C2H5OCO, C2H5 OCO; C6H5SO2, phenyl; Cl2C6H3SO2, CH3; Cl(NO2)C6H3SO2, CH3; CH3C6H4SO2, CH3CO; ClCH2SO2, phenyl; C6H5SO2, furfurylideneimino; and C6H5SO2, benzylidene-imino (\sB Cl); and X and Y with the N form a phthalimido, tetrahydrophthalimido, hexahydrophthalimido, succinimido, o-sulphobenzoic acid imido, thiazolidine-1,3-dione-(2,4), 5-benzylidene-thiazolidine-1,3-dione(2,4) and 5-furfurylidene-thiazolidine- 1,3-dione-(2,4) ring. Other suitable starting compounds include 3,6-endomethylene- D 4-tetrahydrophthalimide, 3-nitrophthalimide, parabanic acid, 1,4-dihydroxyphthalazine, benzene sulphonic acid methylamide, 4-chlorobenzene sulphonic acid anilide and N,N,N1-trimethylsulphamide. The compounds of the invention are fungicides (see Group VI).ALSO:Fungicidal compositions contain a compound of formula <FORM:0927834/VI/1> where X is an organic acyl (-CO-or-SO2-) radical, Y is a carboxylic acid acyl radical or an alkyl, aryl, furfurylidene-imino, benzylideneimino or substituted benzylidene-imino radical (X and Y when acyl being attached to the N by the -CO- or -SO2- group) or X and Y form a ring containing two -CO- and/or -SO2-groups attached to the N, or a 1,4-dioxo-tetrahydrophthalazine ring (see Group IV (b)), in admixture with a liquid or solid diluent or carrier. Aqueous emulsions of active ingredient with dimethylformamide and a non-ionic emulsifier are referred to.
