titleOfInvention A process for the simultaneous bleaching and fixing of photographic color images
abstract 926,569. Photographic bleach-fix solutions. AGFA A.G. March 17, 1961 [March 23, 1960], No. 9854/61. Drawings to Specification. Class 98 (2). A photographic bleach-fix solution for simultaneously bleaching and fixing a colour developed silver halide emulsion layer comprises a complex trivalent iron or cobalt salt of an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic amino compound in which the nitrogen atom carries at least one carboxyalkyl substituent, a water-soluble thiosulphate, and from 0.01-20 g. per litre of a water-soluble iodide. The aliphatic amino compound may be ethylene diamine tetracetic acid, diethylene triamine penta-acetic acid, cyclohexane-1,2-diamino tetracetic acid, nitrilotriacetic acid or ethylamino-dipropionic acid. The iodide may be in the form of an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, ammonium, or organic amine salt. In the examples, the bath comprises the iron complex of ethylene diamine tetracetic acid, the sodium salt of ethylene diamine tetracetic acid, the free acid itself, sodium sulphite, sodium thiosulphate and 1 g. of sodium iodide per litre of solution. German Specifications 866,605 and 954,475 are referred to.
