abstract | The invention comprises compounds of the general formula:-<FORM:0924039/IV(a)/1> wherein R1 and R2 are different C1-C4\t alkyl groups and R is a straight or branched chain alkyl group. They may be obtained by reacting an appropriate O,O-dialkyldithiophosphorylacetic acid with an alkylmercaptan. The reactions may be carried out in the presence of an acidic condensing agent (e.g. HCl) under the conditions indicated in the parent Specification. Examples are given in which (1) R1 is CH3, R2 is C2H5, and R is CH3, C2H5 and isopropyl respectively. The products have insecticidal properties (see Group VI).ALSO:An insecticidal composition contains as active ingredient one or more compounds of the formula <FORM:0924039/VI/1> wherein R1 and R2 are different C1-C4 alkyl radicals and R is a straight or branched chain alkyl group (see Group IV (b)). The compounds may be present in admixture with one or more known insecticidal compounds and/or in admixture with one or more plant nutritional substances and/or fertilizers. The active in gredient may be used as an acetone or benzene solution or as an aqueous dispersion. |
