abstract A pH test indicator comprises a white, neutral, bibulous material carrying a mixture of a pH indicator dye and polyvinyl alcohol. Specified dyes are bromocresol purple, chlorphenol red and in combination methyl red and bromthymol blue. The polyvinyl alcohol component may be an incompletely hydrolysed polyvinyl acetate containing 1-15% of the acetate. Preferably a surface active compound, e.g. polyoxyethylene sorbitan monolaurate is also present. The bibulous material may comprise filter paper or cardboard strips or powdered cellulose tablets. Specification 867,192 is referred to.
