abstract The invention comprises thiadiazole derivatives of the formula:- <FORM:0916061/IV (b)/1> where R represents a hydrocarbon radical, e.g. an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl radical. The compounds are prepared by reacting a hydrazine derivative of the formula:-H2N.NH.CS.OR, or a salt thereof, with a cyanogen halide, preferably in the presence of a strong base and a solvent or diluent. Hydrazine derivatives of the formula:-H2N.NH.CS.OR are prepared by reacting an appropriate xanthate with hydrazine, or with sodium chloracetate, and then hydrazine. Specification 916,062 is referred to.
