titleOfInvention | A process for the production of dimethoxy-decadienes |
abstract | Dimethoxy-decadienes are made by the reaction of chlormethoxypentenes in aliphatic nitriles as solvents with finely divided metallic iron in the presence of activators consisting of the metals cadmium, cobalt, nickel, tin, lead, palladium, copper, mercury, silver, gold or platinum or salts of these metals with organic or inorganic acids, in the presence of halides, known to be Friedel Crafts catalysts, of the elements beryllium, zinc, aluminium, gallium, indium, thallium, titanium, zirconium, tin, antimony, bismuth, tellurium, tungsten, uranium, molybdenum, iron or boron, at temperatures between 50 DEG and 150 DEG C., and in the presence of said finely divided iron in at least 0.5 times, preferably 1.05 to 1.2 times, the molar amount with reference to chlormethoxypentenes. An isomeric mixture of 1-chlor-5-methoxypentene - 2 and 3-chlor-5-methoxypentene, obtainable by reaction of chlormethyl methyl ether and butadiene, is a suitable starting material. Acetonitrile and propionitrile are suitable solvents. |
