abstract The invention comprises the dye of the formula:- <F\1> It is made by acylating 1 : 5-diamino-4-hydroxy-anthraquinone with a functional derivative of m-methylbenzoic acid in a molar ratio of 1 : 2, or by oxidizing 1 : 5-di-(m-methyl-benzoylamino) anthraquinone using concentrated or fuming sulphuric acid or manganese dioxide, persulphates or perchlorates in 10% of oleum or glacial acetic acid. The dye dyes and prints polyester fibres a bluish-red shade. Specifications 5780/09 and 4608/11 are referred to.
