titleOfInvention | Means for stabilising cargo tanks in ships |
abstract | 904,130. Storing liquefied gases. CONCH INTERNATIONALE METHANE Ltd. Jan. 16, 1961 [May 24, 1960], No. 1714/61. Class 8(2). [Also in Group XXXIII] The cargo tanks 20, in a liquefied gas tanker, are stablilized against pitching and rolling movements of the ship by tensioned rods 32 secured to the tank tops and the ships structure. The rods 32, which allow for expansion and contraction of the tank, are secured by nuts 40 to the tank top brackets 34a, 34b and to the ships structural member 36. A plurality of rods 32 may extend transversely or longitudinally of the ship. The rods may be pivoted to the member 34a, 34b and 36. The tanker comprises double hulls 12 and 14 the inner of which is lined with heat insulating material, e.g. fibre glass, cork, balsa wood, foamed plastic or perlite and is provided with tanks, (not shown) for tank services. |
