titleOfInvention Tetrafluoroethylene telomers
abstract Telomers of the formula SF5(C2F4)nCl, where n is less than 12 are prepared by subjecting a mixture of tetrafluoroethylene and sulphur chloride pentafluoride to the action of heat in the absence of ultra-violet radiation. Telomerization may be effected at normal pressure, e.g. by passing the mixed vapours through a nickel tube heated to 200 DEG to 300 DEG C., and condensing the product in a series of traps, or at autogenous pressure in a sealed vessel, e.g. 150 to 250 atmospheres at 250 DEG C. Higher telomers may also be obtained when the mixture contains less than 3 molar per cent SF5Cl. Specification 877,961 is referred to.ALSO:Telomers of the formula SF5(C2F4)nCl, where n is less than 12, are prepared by subjecting a mixture of tetrafluoroethylene and sulphur chloride pentafluoride to the action of heat in the absence of ultraviolet radiation. The mixture should contain at least 3 molar per cent SF5Cl, lower concentrations giving higher telomers. Specification 877,961 is referred to.
