titleOfInvention Improvements in or relating to synthetic inorganic pulverulent carriers and to pesticidal compositions containing them
abstract A pesticidal composition comprises a pesticide, a synthetic inorganic solid pulverulent carrier and a minor proportion of a water-soluble calcium compound. A list of pesticides, insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, &c. is given in the Specification. The synthetic inorganic solid pulverulent carrier may be a hydrated calcium silicate or a hydrated silicon dioxide; several examples are given. The preferred water-soluble calcium compounds are salts of monocarboxylic aliphatic acids having not more than four carbon atoms in the molecule, especially calcium acetate, but calcium benzoate, formate, orthophosphate, propionate, butyrate, salicylate, thiosulphate or hydroxide may also be used. The amount of calcium compound may be from 0.2 to 10% by weight based on the weight of synthetic carrier. (Compositions comprising the synthetic inorganic solid pulverulent carrier and the water-soluble calcium compound form part of the invention claimed.) The pesticidal compositions may contain a wetting agent, such as an alkali metal salt of a sulphuric acid ester or a sulphonic acid containing at least 10 carbon atoms in the molecule, and, if desired, a deflocculating agent, such as gelatine, glue, casein, gums, polyvinyl alcohol, ethylene oxide condensates &c. Specifications 692,546, 692,547 and 714,688 are referred to.
