titleOfInvention New hydrazinium compounds, their production and resins obtained therefrom
abstract Compounds of the formula:- <FORM:0896451/IV (a)/1> wherein W, Q, R and T, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydroxypropyl group or a polyoxyalkylene chain, the oxyalkylene groups of which consist of at least one oxypropylene group and optionally also at least one oxyethylene group and which terminates in a hydroxyl group, A represents a C2-4 divalent hydrocarbon radical and X represents an anion, and mixtures of such compounds in which W, Q, R and T have different values, are prepared by reacting a diamine of the formula:- <FORM:0896451/IV (a)/2> with chloramine and, if desired, replacing the chlorine atom A by appropriate anion exchange. Preferred products are based on starting materials having a molecular weight of up to 27,000 and prepared by reacting ethylenediamine with propylene oxide and/or oxetone and then with ethylene oxide. The above products may be further reacted with compounds containing two carboxy or isocyanate groups (e.g. tolylene diisocyanate) to give resins. Specification 858,488 is referred to.ALSO:The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:0896451/IV (b)/1> wherein W, Q, R and T, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydroxypropyl group or a polyoxyalkylene chain, the oxyalkylene groups of which consist of at least one oxypropylene group and optionally also at least one oxyethylene group and which terminates in a hydroxyl group, A represents a C2-4 divalent hydrocarbon radical, and X represents an anion, e.g. chloride, nitrate and hydroxide, and also mixtures of such compounds in which W, Q, R or T have different values. Compounds in which X represents chlorine are prepared by reacting a diamine of the formula <FORM:0896451/IV (b)/2> with chloramine, the chlorine atom then being replaced if desired by appropriate anion exchange. Preferred products are based on starting materials having a molecular weight of up to 27,000 and prepared by reacting ethylenediamine with propylene oxide and/or oxetane and then with ethylene oxide. The examples describe the preparation of 1,1-bis-(2-hydroxypropyl)-1-[2-bis - (2 - hydroxypropylamino)ethyl] - hydrazinium chloride, 1,1 - bis - (hydroxypolyoxyiso - propyl) - 1 - [2 - (bis - hydroxypolyoxyisopropyl) aminoethyl] hydrazinium chloride and 1,1-bis-(hydroxypolyethoxypolyoxyisopropyl) - 1 - [2 - bis - hydroxypolyethoxypolyoxyisopropyl)aminoethyl] hydrazinium chloride, as well as other compounds of high molecular weight. Specification 858,488 is referred to.
