abstract 893,622. Light - sensitive transfer - record material. NATIONAL CASH REGISTER CO. July 7, 1960 [July 16, 1959], No. 23784/60. Class 98(2). A record member is provided with a pressure-rupturable coating containing fluid droplets of marking material having a distinctive colour and capable of being rendered non- fluid when subjected to polymerizing electromagnetic radiation and the procedure therewith is exposure through an image as of indicia and then pressure on to a receiving member to make thereon a positive print of the image. In Example I a marking material comprising furfural-acetone resin, azo-blue- "B" black, iodoform, toluene and chlorinated diphenyl is emulsified in aqueous gelatin, coated on paper and dried, and exposure thereof is by ultra-violet light, if desired by projection. Example II describes a marking material of lauryl methacrylate monomer, α-chloromethyl naphthalene, lauroyl peroxide and azo-blue-"B"-black, and Example III one of α-methyl styrene monomer, N,N<SP>1</SP>-disubstituted p-quinone diimine-N,N<SP>1</SP>-dioxide as heat polymerization inhibitor with the same dye, the latter of these requiring a heating step after light exposure and before image transfer. Some further materials for use in the coating are indicated.
