titleOfInvention Glycolic acid esters of n-substituted-2-pyrrolidylcarbinols
abstract The invention comprises N - substituted - 2 - pyrrolidylmethyl glycollates of the formula <FORM:0891569/IV (b)/1> together with their acid addition and quaternary ammonium salts (wherein R is a lower alkyl, or a phenyl-lower alkyl group, R1 is a phenyl cyclohexyl, cyclopentyl or 2-thienyl group and R2 is a cyclopentyl or 2-thienyl group; "lower" indicating a maximum of 5 carbon atoms in the groups to described) and the preparation thereof by reacting a pyrrolidyl carbinol of the formula <FORM:0891569/IV (b)/2> with a glycollate of the formula <FORM:0891569/IV (b)/3> (wherein R3 is a hydrocarbon group).ALSO:Pharmaceutical preparations comprise pyrrolidylmethyl glycolates of the general formula <FORM:0891569/VI/1> wherein R is a lower alkyl or phenyl-lower alkyl group, R1 is a phenyl, cyclohexyl, cyclopentyl or 2-thienyl group, R2 is a cyclopentyl or 2-thienyl, and R3 is a hydrocarbon group (the term "lower" indicating a maximum of 5 carbon atoms in the groups so described) or their acid addition or quaternary ammonium salts together with a diluent or carrier in conventional therapeutic dosage unit forms such as tablets, capsules, elixirs, powders and aqueous solutions. Acid addition salts are formed from organic or inorganic acids and quaternary ammonium salts from reactive esters of alkanols and aralkanols. The compounds have antispasmodic properties, and the acid addition salts in addition show a central nervous system stimulant effect.
