abstract | The invention comprises a 3a -acetoxy-20-methylene - pregnan - or allo - pregnan - 11 - one having the formula <FORM:0890473/IV (b)/1> the preparation thereof by reacting a 3a -acetoxy-pregnane- or allo-pregnane-11,20-dione with a triaryl-alkyl-phosphonium salt and then reacetylating to yield the corresponding 3a -acetoxy-20 - methylene - pregnan - or allo - pregnan - 11 - one, and the conversion of the product to 3a -acetoxy - 20#x - hydroperoxy - 20 - methoxy - pregnan-or -allo-pregnan-11-one by treatment with ozone at -30 DEG C. to -90 DEG C. in the presence of methanol. |
