abstract | 888,346. Insecticidal compositions; medicines. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. Jan. 5, 1960 [Jan. 7, 1959], No. 381/60. Class 81 (1). [Also in Group IV (b)] An insecticical composition comprises as active ingredient one or more thionophosphonic acid esters of the general formula where R 1 is a C 1 -C 4 alkyl or C 1 -C 4 haloalkyl radical, R 2 is a C 1 -C 4 alkyl radical, and R 3 is a phenyl radical substituted by at least one nitro group and/or halogen atom and which may additionally be substituted by one or more C 1 -C 4 alkyl radicals (see Group IV (b)) and an inert solid or liquid diluent or extender. Specified diluents are talc, chalk, bentonite, clay, water (if desired with a commercial emulsifier), alcohols, ketones, and liquid hydrocarbons. The active ingredients may also be used in combination with known insecticides and/or fertilizers. Typical compositions are obtained by admixing the compound C 2 H 5 P(S) (OC 2 H 5 )O-3,4-dichlorophenyl, or the compound CH 3 P(S)(OC 2 H 5 )O-2,4,5-trichlorophenyl with acetone, adding benzyl hydroxy diphenyl polyglycol ether as emulsifier and then diluting with water. The active ingredients may be administered to animals either by applying to the skin by brushing or by mouth in the form of tablets or aqueous suspensions admixed with the feed. |
