abstract A process for curing epoxy resins comprises mixing an epoxy resin with a poly(amino-amide) obtained by condensation of S -caprolactam with a polyamine and maintaining the mixture at a temperature and for a time sufficient to cause curing. Specified polyamines are ethylene diamine, propylene diamine, butylene diamine, diamino pentane, diamino hexane, diethylene triamine, trimethylene tetramine, tetraethylene pentamine, m-phenylene diamine, o-phenylene diamine, p-phenylene diamine, 4,41-methylenedianiline, m-xylylene diamine and p-aminobenzylamine. Specified epoxy resins are those produced by the reaction of an epihalohydrin with an aromatic polyol or an aromatic polyhydric phenol. The examples describe the preparation of poly(amino-amides) from S -caprolactam and (i) tetramethylene pentamine; (ii) diethylene triamine and the use of a poly (aminoamide) made from S -caprolactam and triethylene tetramine for curing an epoxy resin derived from bis-phenol and epichlorhydrin; specified solvents for the preparation of adhesive and coating compositions being cyclohexane and a mixture of methyl ethyl ketone, diethylene glycol monoethyl ether and xylene respectively.
