titleOfInvention | Thiophosphonic acid esters |
abstract | The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:0881977/IV (b)/1> in which R is an alkyl or alkenyl radical containing up to 8 carbon atoms, or phenyl radical, X and Y are oxygen or sulphur, at least one of them being sulphur. They may be obtained by reacting salts of appropriate thio- or thionothiol -phosphonic acid esters with N-halomethyl benzazimides. The reaction is preferably effected in the presence of an inert solvent and at slightly elevated temperature. Examples are given for the production of compounds of the above formula in which (1) X and Y are each sulphur, R is CH3 and R1 is C2H5 or CH3; (2) X and Y are each sulphur, R is C2H5- and R1 is C2H5- or isopropyl; (3) X is sulphur, Y is oxygen, R is phenyl and R1 is C2H5, and (4) X and Y are sulphur, R1 is C2H5 and R is -CH=C(CH3)2 or -C(C(CH3)3)=C(CH3)2. The products hav insecticidal properties (see Group VI). Specification 786,763 is referred to.ALSO:An insecticidal composition contains as active ingredient a compound of the general formula <FORM:0881977/VI/1> in which R is an alkyl or alkenyl radical containing up to 8 carbon atoms or a phenyl radical, R1 is a C1-C4 alkyl radical, and X and Y are oxygen or sulphur at least one of them being sulphur (see Group IV (b)), and a liquid or solid carrier or diluent. In typical examples the compound of the formula <FORM:0881977/VI/2> are mixed with dimethyl formamide, a benzyl hydroxydiphenyl polyglycol ether added as emulsifier and the mixture diluted with water. Specification 786,763 is referred to. |
