titleOfInvention Production of ammeline
abstract Ammeline is prepared by reacting urea and/or biuret with dicyandiamide in solution in a phenol at an elevated temperature, and removing the precipitated ammeline. The reaction temperature is preferably above 150 DEG C., e.g. 160-170 DEG C. Suitable phenols are phenol, a cresol or xylenol. Alcohol may be added to the cooled reaction mixture for more efficient precipitation of the ammeline.
