titleOfInvention Dialkylaminoethyl derivatives of salicylamides
abstract The invention comprises compounds of the formula: <FORM:0862721/IV (b)/1> (wherein R1 and R2 are alkyl groups each containing at most 4 carbon atoms) and non-toxic acid-addition salts thereof. They may be prepared by reacting methylsalicylate with the appropriate dialkylethylene diamine. Examples are given and salts with hydrohalic acids and sulphuric acid are referred to.ALSO:Pharmaceutical compositions comprise a compound of the formula <FORM:0862721/VI/1> (wherein R1 and R2 are alkyl groups each containing at most 4 carbon atoms) or a non-toxic acid-addition salt thereof in admixture with suitable fillers, carriers, extenders and/or excipients suitable for oral or parenteral administration. They may take the form of tablets, powders, capsules or suspensions and a suitable dosage unit contains about 25 to 300 milligrams of the active ingredient. In examples N-(2-diethylaminoethyl)-salicylamide hydrochloride is made up into tablets and capsules. Salts with hydrobromic and sulphuric acids are also referred to.
