titleOfInvention | Phosphonic and thiophosphonic esters and compositions containing them |
abstract | The invention comprises compounds of the general formula: <FORM:0859737/IV(b)/1> (wherein R is a C1-4 lower alkyl group; R1 is a hydrogen or halogen atom or -NO2, -OCH3, -OC2H5 or -CH3; X is an oxygen or sulphur atom; and Q is -N = N or <FORM:0859737/IV(b)/2> ), and the preparation thereof by reacting a compound of the general formula: <FORM:0859737/IV(b)/3> (wherein Y is a halogen atom) with a compound of the general formula: <FORM:0859737/IV(b)/4> The thiophosphoric esters can be converted into the corresponding phosphoric esters by reaction with oxidising agents; and the azo group can be converted into the azoxy group by reacting the phosphoric esters with hydrogen peroxide.ALSO:The invention comprises compounds of the general formula: <FORM:0859737/IV (c)/1> (wherein R is a C1-4 lower alkyl group; R1 is a hydrogen or halogen atom or -NO2, -OCH3, -OC2H5 or -CH3; X is an oxygen or sulphur atom; and Q is -N=N-), and the preparation thereof by reacting a compound of the general formula: <FORM:0859737/IV (c)/2> (wherein Y is a halogen atom) with a compound of the general formula: <FORM:0859737/IV (c)/3> Compounds of the invention having an orange, red or yellow colour are disclosed.ALSO:Parasiticidal compositions comprise at least one compound of the general formula: <FORM:0859737/VI/1> (wherein R is a C1-4 lower alkyl group; hydrogen or halogen atom or -NO2, -OCH3, -OC2H5 or -CH3; X is an oxygen or sulphur atom; and Q is -N=N- or <FORM:0859737/VI/2> -(and a compatible carrier therefor and/or one or more other substances having parasiticidal or fertilising properties. In particular, fly-killing compositions may contain additional fly-killing substances selected from organic chlorine compounds, phosphoric and thiophosphoric esters, thiocyanates, thiocyanacetates, pyrethrum esters and synthetic pyrethains. Adhesives, dispersing agents and wetting agents may be incorporated if desired. Suitable carriers are liquids wherein the active material may be dispersed or dissolved, e.g. in the form of self-emulsifying concentrates; semi-solids adapted to give a paste-like consistency; and particulate solids like talc. |
