titleOfInvention Metal-containing monoazo dyestuffs
abstract The invention comprises metal complexes containing one cobalt or chromium atom in complex union with approximately two molecules of different monoazo dyes of formula: <FORM:0858842/IV (c)/1> wherein R and R1 are benzene radicals having a hydroxyl group ortho to -N = N-, at least one having a possibly substituted sulphonamide or alkylsulphone group and both being free of sulphonic and carboxylic acid groups. The metallised dyes are prepared by known methods and dye wool and other nitrogenous materials in blue shades. In examples: (1) the 1 : 1 chromium complex of the dye 4- nitro -2- aminophenol or 4- or 5- sulphonamido -2- aminophenol --> 41-hydroxynaphtho- (21 : 11 : 4 : 5-)- oxathiol -s-dioxide is prepared using chromic chloride in ethylene glycol and reacted further with the dye 4- sulphonamido -2- aminophenol --> 2- naphthol; (2) a mixture of dyestuffs is treated with alkaline potassium bichromate and glucose or ammoniacal cobalt sulphate solution, specified dyes being 4- chloro- or -sulphonamido- or-sulphodimethylamido- or -sulphomonomethylamide- or -sulpho -o - hydroxy -npropylamido-2- aminophenol or 5- sulphonamido -2- aminophenol --> 41- hydroxynaphtha- (21 : 11 : 4 : 5)-oxathiol -sdioxide and 4- sulphonamido -or-sulphonomonomethylamido- or -ethylsulphonyl-2- aminophenol --> 2- naphthol. Specifications 731,495 and 758,016 are referred to.
